Minus : Make Neighbours Your Friends

minus

I recently went to one of my cousins and he was completely enjoying his life there. He is young, smart and guess what, about 2 to 3 girls at one time. I was really surprised (because I’ve got none) and it’s there when I came to know about the actual use of Facebook. I didn’t really used it like it should be; I mean filtering the images before uploading them, chatting all day and lots of other stuff. But then he was not happy with what he had and he wanted a new girl in his life. Then I found that Facebook isn’t a dating site at all and not for making new friends as well. You can continue with those who are your friends already but making new friends is very difficult via Facebook. Then I thought of an app that could help us in this situation and we found Minus.

I am talking about the new iOS app, Minus that has been developed by Minus. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5. Minus is actually a kind of social networking website. So, if you have an account on their website, you can continue with it on this app or create a new account. You can also import your Facebook information to your profile if you want.

Now, the idea of the app is to bring people in proximity close enough to be called as friends. The idea is good and fresh; after all it’s obvious that if there’s a person living in your neighbour and you find him on this network, you’ll automatically become friends. The rest depends upon your bonding but the initial handshake is pretty warm. You have to actually share your images with others. You can find others in your proximity under the “nearby” tab. You can chat with them, arrange hangouts and much more. You can even save their pictures on your camera roll, like them and comment on them.

The app also allows you to modify your pictures before uploading using the in-app filters and image editor. The appearance and the overall layout of the app are amazing and it will be very easy for the users to get used to this app. The only problem that you might face here is that there are not as many users as Facebook on this app. So, it might be difficult for you to find many people right from the start. It will take some time to be more mature.

The app is available for free in the App Store. So, there’s no harm in downloading one. Don’t consider it to be a copy of Facebook or one more social networking website. It’s very different; something like Instagram. It can be a successful venture if some new refreshing ideas keep coming their way.

Pros: nice concept of proximity friendship; simple to use UI; in-app image editor; free.

Cons: you may not find enough users to share your images with right now and it will take some time.
