Books are the true friends of humans. They never take you to the wrong path and no matter how boring that kind of friend is, it always teaches you something that you’ll remember throughout your whole life. I myself like reading fantasy and adventurous novels though philosophical are a rare choice. But the biggest disappointment is when the latest book from your favourite author hits the shelves but the one near your house is still empty-handed. In fact, it’s not the book store but you who are actually left alone. Also, even if the book hits the stores and it’s on high demand, it’s very much possible that it might be available on a hiked price much like Google Nexus 4 available on online websites. So there is a need for an app which can guide you expertly to the right choice and I think we have it now in the App Store.

CollegeBooks, one of the latest iOS apps by Pure Creations has just hit the App Store shelves. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5. The app is as simple as it could be to fulfil its purpose. The next few lines will explain it all.

CollegeBooks app works much like a combination of Google Maps and an online dealing website. If you want to find a book store near you, all you need to do is just enter your location and the app will generate a list of all the available stores around you along with the distance mentioned so that you can decide on the nearest one to choose. Just select a store and it will be shown on the map and also will you get the directions on the map from your current location to the store to follow. Additionally, you get some important information about the store such as its address, phone number, email, website address and much more that can be very useful in finding the store or searching it for books from home.

The app has another half that is as much useful and simple. If you’re looking for a book online, just enter either the author name, title of the book or International Standard Book Number of that book and you’ll get a list of the different prices on different stores. You can order from the one you buy the cheapest. It also gives you an idea of the actual price even if you’re going to buy it offline.

The UI of the app is very much traditional which is good. The app is available for free in the App Store. It doesn’t deserve a standing applause but you can certainly cheer for the effort. It is very much useful and simple to be kept in your pocket. Go for this one!

Pros: simple to use; intuitive UI; compare online prices; free.

Cons: nothing boasting about the app.
