Paper has always held one of the supreme powers in our society. Whether it’s the power of newspapers, legal documents or someone’s will, it’s pretty apt to say that pen is nothing less than a weapon. So if we leave no option to safeguard our money and go for the best of the banks and best protection means available in the market, why not so for documents. Nowadays, banks have started to provide lockers and they are mainly used to keep those documents so that no one gets a hand to them. But all the documents can’t be kept in the bank because you need access to many of them regularly and visiting banks every second day is not advised. So what can we do? We can’t just let them being stolen away and we have to store them in our phone as well. If you want the solution, just read on.

I am talking about Doc Vault, the new iOS app that has been developed by Power App GmbH. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

When it comes to security, the app is embedded with many features to guarantee you that. First, there is a separate password for opening up the vault other than your usual phone password. So you can operate your phone easily without getting any risk to your docs. Then the password is too numeral as well as graphical. So there are uncountable numbers of combinations possible. Another feature which might be first time introduced in the app industry, at least to me, is that whenever there is a false attempt to open the lock, the app immediately takes a photo of the person and sends it to a pre-configured email along with the GPS location of the device at the time. This is almost like catching a person while stealing from a safe.

You can store almost any kind of file whether it is a video file, audio file or any word document. You can also create and save PDF documents within the app. To further strengthen your security, there is an in-app browser so that you can browse web and leave no trace behind as there will be no history log stored which may be checked later by someone else.

Though the numeral and graphical passwords are standard and have been proven for security, there should be alpha-numeral combinations available so as to further strengthen the security. Apart from that, everything else is perfect and there is almost no margin for further improvement.

The app is available for $1.99 in the App Store. The price is pretty fair and I will definitely ask you all to download this app in case you have some important documents to be stored in your phone.

Pros: simple to use; numerical and graphical combinations for password security; unique feature of photo capture in case of false attempt.

Cons: alpha-numeric password combinations possible for further strength of security.
