When you visit a park, you can see many people walking with their pets around, especially dogs. They play with them, feed them and let them take a walk on their own for a moment. It’s a very healthy environment and when you’re playing games on your phone, for a moment you wish if you had that dog as well. That’s because no matter how good a game is, it can’t be a replacement for a living being such as a pet. You cannot throw your phone away and ask it to come back to you on its own. Moreover, a pet becomes a part of your family. No matter how much important your phone is to you, it’ll not come to you in the morning to wake you up. But yes, it will ring a irritating alarm that you’ll finally end with a bang! But what if your phone could be your pet as well?

I am talking about the latest iOS app called Pocket K-9 that has been developed by DVStudios. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 7.0 or any later version of the OS. This app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

Let’s start with the name of the dog – Charlie it is! I think a Border Collie Sheep dog will be good. Now let’s get introduced with your new pet by learning some gestures that make it happy, sad or spin around. Just roll your fingers on the phone screen and let it do the rest. The more gestures you learn, the more you can play with Charlie. You can keep trying and find the new patterns on yourself. But to avoid a situation where it suddenly barks on you, you can go prepare yourself under the Hints section.

I’m treating Charlie as a real dog because he’s one! You can feed it, spoil it with bad habits but it’ll still sleep with you. Moreover, here you’re not playing with a cartoon or a robot but a real-life dog actually. The animation of the dog is brilliant and that’s what takes this app to a new level. You can relate it with any other dog that you have seen in your neighborhood or a dog of the same breed that you had before. But if you really want to go deep in that breed story, you can check out the Wikipedia page for that one.

As per the developers, a new talking Samoyed snow dog is soon to come to the game. So if the developers keep adding new pets, you’re never going to be bored. In fact, you’ll love to keep them all with you. The app is available for $1.99 in the App Store and believe me, it’s the only amount that you’re going to pay for this pet dog. So where else will you find a dog that plays with you, follows your orders and doesn’t cost you a penny for its living! And you won’t even have to face a sad ending to your happy story!

Pros: realistic graphics; many gestures to learn; learn about the breed on Wikipedia; new pet soon to arrive.

Cons: none.
