There are many differences between large and small organizations. For example, if you’ve ever visited a big retail chain like Wal-Mart, then you’ll find it very well managed and most of the work is computerized. They use Software specifically designed as per their needs and there are many employees working under different departments. In contrast, what you normally see in a shop is that there are 4-5 persons working and there are no shifts or strict rules followed. So if you ask such a store owner to use Software to keep track of all the items sold, the first reason he’ll probably give is that he doesn’t have so much time to first learn the Software and his shop is not that much advanced as well to fit that requirement. But you know that there is a need and it must be fulfilled in the simplest way possible.
Today, we have an app that is aimed for the same. The app is called QuickSchedule and has been developed by Darrell Nicholas. The app was first designed by Darrell for his wife to help her as she works as a manager at a store. The app is aimed to create a quick schedule so that anyone can use it. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 7.0 or any later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.
QuickSchedule has been designed for small store owners who want to manage their 5-6 employees. You can create weekly schedules and send them to the employees. To add an employee, just tap the “Add Employee” button. There is not much information to add other than first name, last name and email address which will be used to send the schedule. Remember that this information can’t be edited once saved and you’ll have to delete the employee and then add him again. That’s why the info tab is so small to be easily re-entered.
For assigning a shift to an employee, just tap the employee and you can assign him any shift. You can sort shifts with names so that they are easily distinguished. There is an option to select the first day of the week and the schedule will be generated for the whole week. The app will also calculate the total hours of each employee so that no one works overtime or under-time as well.
As I’ve already told you, the app is strictly for small scale users and even the developer knows that. There are almost no customization features as they are not required at all. Overall, the app is best at what it says. It gives a quick and simple solution to the small owners who can’t find enough time to deal with such heavy mind-boggling Software. The app is priced at $0.99 and there’s every reason to install it.
Pros: adds no extra work to your schedule; quick and simple to learn; best for small store owners.
Cons: not for large scale industry.
