Puzzles are meant to take away the peace of your mind and then you fight to take it back. So in a way, they train you for perplexing situations when your mind would normally stop working. But a puzzle is useless when it stops confusing you. If it becomes too predictable, it means we need a new one to keep our brain juices flowing. So what would you call a puzzle that has been confusing genius minds over decades? I know what it’s called; Sudoku!

The game with almost infinite unique combinations of numbers is the most evergreen puzzle we have ever seen. A quick dose of Sudoku early in the morning keeps your brain fresh throughout the day. It’s like a mental workout. But you can’t carry your newspaper everywhere and that’s why we have a new Sudoku app in our show tonight. Let’s check it out!

I’m talking about Sudoku Free, the new Android app that has been developed by Astradia. The app is compatible with all the devices running Android 2.2 or any later version of the OS.

Sudoku Free will make sure you never have to refer to a newspaper to find a Sudoku puzzle. Neither will you feel the need for a pen, pencil or paper to solve it upon. Just take out your phone from your pocket and play. As you enter the app, you’ll find that there are 5 different difficulty modes. If you’ve never tried your hands on Sudoku before, it’s advisable to start with “Very Easy”. After that you can proceed to higher levels once you feel comfortable doing so. The higher you go, the more numbers are missing from the grid and the guess-work just keeps on piling up. The timer on the top right actually tracks your performance; the faster you solve, the better you are. Each Sudoku game you play here is unique. Just like seconds of your life, it’s never the same. So you’d never get bored no matter how much you play; there’s always some surprise waiting for you!

Sudoku Free acknowledges a big problem that we all face with Sudoku apps; the need for additional pen and paper to solve the puzzle. Here, you have the option to switch between a pen and pencil for sure and unsure numbers and you also have an eraser to clear any wrong choices. So no matter how many possibilities you have in mind for a particular cell, you can mark them all on the screen itself and that saves time, paper and all the hectic to you.

Sudoku Free has been designed with precision. The interface is neat & clean and the app layout is easy to understand. The color theme is very beautiful and the overall impression is elegant.

So what we can say is that Sudoku Free is a successful attempt of a paper-free Sudoku. The app is available for free in the Play Store and you can’t ask for more!

Pros: intuitive UI; elegant graphics; pen, pencil and eraser; 5 different difficulty modes; timer; free.

Cons: none.
